Popular Nigerian comedian and activist Debo Adedayo, better known as Mr. Macaroni, called out Nigerian politicians for their perceived greed and lack of concern for the welfare of the people.
Mr. Macaroni, taking to his social media platforms did criticise what he described as an insatiable appetite for wealth and power among the nation’s leaders.
In a post that quickly went viral, Mr. Macaroni questioned the integrity and accountability of these leaders, describing them as “hardened criminals in office”.
He wrote,
“How can you comfortably loot public funds enough to change the standard of living of millions of the people you ought to serve selflessly? What type of greed and wickedness is this?”
The comedian did not hold back in his criticism, pointing out that despite the lack of consequences for these actions, it is torturous that the people whose treasury is being looted continue to defend politicians who absolutely do not care about their existence.
He lamented the hopelessness of the situation, questioning how the country is supposed to get better when politicians are only interested in stealing.
His statement reflects widespread frustration among Nigerians who feel betrayed by those entrusted with leadership.
This isn’t the first time Mr. Macaroni has taken a stand against societal and political issues.
Over the years, he has used his platform to advocate for accountability, justice, and good governance.
His involvement in the 2020 #EndSARS protests cemented his reputation as a voice of the people.
Despite facing threats and even physical assaults during protests, Mr. Macaroni has remained steadfast in his mission to hold the government accountable.
Mr Macaroni’s activism continues to shine a light on the urgent need for reform and the importance of integrity in leadership.
