The teacher, identified as Stella Nwadigo, was caught on video repeatedly slapping the young boy, Abayomi Michael, for not writing as instructed.
The disturbing footage, which went viral on social media, shows Nwadigo instructing Abayomi on how to write the number six while slapping him multiple times. The video has ignited a wave of condemnation from Nigerians, who are calling for a thorough investigation into the school and the teacher’s actions.
Following the release of the video, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) confirmed Nwadigo’s arrest. She was arraigned at Magistrate Court 1, Ogba, and has been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Facility until February 18, 2025, when the case will continue.
